Jaguar XJ (early 2010)

Jaguar’s re-invention continues with the all-new (and coupe-like) XJ that goes on sale next year. The traditional looks – a hallmark of large Jaguars since the 1960s – have been replaced with slick and sophisticated styling that looks more to the future than the past. Interiors have always been a Jaguar strong point and the new XJ continues this with an elegant cabin that matches old-fashioned craftsmanship with the latest in-car gadgets. On the engine front there’s a 3.0-litre V6 diesel with 275bhp (0-60mph in 6.0 seconds); A 5.0-litre normally-aspirated V8 with 385bhp (0-60mph in 5.7 seconds) and a supercharged version with 510bhp (0-60mph in 4.9 seconds. One tradition has been carried over from the previous XJ – and that’s the aluminium chassis construction. It makes the car much lighter than it would have been if it were made from steel and in turn helps lower emissions and increase fuel economy.
