Audi R8 Spyder (mid 2010)

The ultimate Audi is getting even more stylish – by losing its roof. Called the R8 Spyder, it comes with a fully automatic lightweight fabric hood and will only be available with the more powerful V10 engine. With prices starting at a shade under £112,000 it’s guaranteed to be even more exclusive than the standard R8 when the first cars arrive here in early 2010. As well as open air enjoyment, Audi says the Spyder will offer coupe-like refinement with the roof up, giving owners the best of both worlds.To make high speed driving more comfortable, a wind deflector comes as standard. To cope wth the loss of the roof, the R8 Spyder has a stiffer bodyshell, yet only weighs fractionally more, meaning it should handle just as keenly as the R8 coupe. Thanks to the 525bhp V10 FSI engine the open top R8 can accelerate from 0-62mph in just 4.1 seconds – only 0.2 seconds slower than the coupe version. It’s not cheap though with prices starting at £111,955.
