Ferrari 458 Italia (summer 2010)

With a 0-62mph time of less than 3.4 seconds and a top speed in excess of 202mph the new 458 Italia is certainly one of the fastest cars Ferrari has built. Using its extensive knowledge gained in motorsport, the carmaker has designed the newcomer as the ultimate sports car. It’s powered by a new 4.5-litre V8 engine (hence the model name) which boasts an incredible 578bhp. It also features an advanced F1-style, seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox to help maximise performance while still offering smooth shifts. The svelte lines of the exterior are reflected in the luxury cabin which is said to feature a much sleeker and more modern look than previous models. Innovations include the removal of the wiper and indicator stalks in favour of buttons mounted on the steering wheel.

Fujifilm roars into 2010 with 18 new digital cameras

Fujifilm will be launching a record-braking number of new cameras at this year’s PMA show, eighteen so far and still counting!? This new line-up boasts a wide range of features using EXR technology and Fujinon optics. You’ll find a roster of cameras that feature high-powered wide-angle zoom lenses, face recognition, HD movie, image stabilization, 3D imaging and a first this year, “pet detection” technology that recognizes the features of dogs and cats. In addition, a new HD player accessory is compatible with the new 2010 FinePix line.

Fujifilm’s line up of FinePix digital cameras this year boasts a wide range of category-leading features thanks to the company’s award-winning EXR technology and Fujinon optics. For serious photographers seeking the versatility and performance of a D-SLR system without the bulk or expense, Fujifilm has introduced its FinePix HS10 / HS11. This latest addition to the brand’s award-winning range of big zoom ‘bridge’ cameras offers an unprecedented feature set that combines a powerful 30x wide angle, twist-barrel manual Fujinon optical zoom lens with high-speed shooting modes, and full 1080p HD movie capture in a compact, closed body camera. Honda CR-Z (summer 2010)

Hybrid cars are set to get an injection of life thanks to this latest offering from Honda. Named the CR-Z, it has a sportier look thanks to its sleek coupe shape and should be good to drive, helped by an advanced chassis. It’s powered by a new 1.5-litre engine with 124bhp, making it more powerful than the Insight. Honda is claiming that it will do 56mpg with CO2 emissions of 117g/km, although these aren’t official yet. While it shares some components with the Insight it is around a foot shorter while the wheelbase is also smaller. This – according to Honda – will make it much lighter and more agile.Buyers will get a 3-Mode Drive System in the CR-Z. This allows them to choose between three different settings depending on whether they want enjoyment, economy or a mix of both.The different settings alter the throttle response, steering, climate control, idle stop time and how much the IMA (integrated motor assist) system is used.

Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG (summer 2010)

This is the new Mercedes-Benz sports car that comes with a hint of the company’s past. Called the SLS AMG, it will be fitted with vertically opening doors. And it’s not merely style over substance, as Mercedes-Benz says the doors require less room to open than conventional coupe doors. Crucially they can be opened in standard sized garages too. On the engine front, the newcomer will be fitted with a 6.3-litre V8 producing 571bhp along with immense low down pulling powerThis means the SLS can accelerate from 0-62mph in a mere 3.8 seconds – as fast as a Porsche 911 Turbo – and will reach an electronically limited top speed of 197mph. It’s fitted with a seven-speed twin-clutch automatic gearbox which can change gear in milliseconds for super smooth yet rapid shifts. There’s also a Race Start function which gives maximum acceleration from a standstill. Elsewhere, the side vents, extra wide grille and gullwing doors are reminiscent of the original gullwing from 1955.

Audi A1

The A1 is a three-door hatch, it will be the cheapest model offered by the premium German brand. At less than four metres long, the city-friendly model will also be the smallest model Audi offers, yet the firm promises that the quality and finish will be up its usual high standard. And despite its compact dimensions, Audi says there is enough room for four adults and their luggage.Running costs should be low thanks to a range of incredibly efficient engines, all of which are cheap to tax. The range starts with a 1.2 TFSI petrol with 86bhp or there’s a more powerful 1.4 TFSI that produces 122bhp, but both average 55mpg and emit 119g/km of CO2. But the 1.6 TDI is even better. The 105bhp engine is capable of 72mpg and has CO2 emisisons of just 102g/km. Performance is good too with a 0-62mph time of 10.8 seconds.

Audi R8 Spyder (mid 2010)

The ultimate Audi is getting even more stylish – by losing its roof. Called the R8 Spyder, it comes with a fully automatic lightweight fabric hood and will only be available with the more powerful V10 engine. With prices starting at a shade under £112,000 it’s guaranteed to be even more exclusive than the standard R8 when the first cars arrive here in early 2010. As well as open air enjoyment, Audi says the Spyder will offer coupe-like refinement with the roof up, giving owners the best of both worlds.To make high speed driving more comfortable, a wind deflector comes as standard. To cope wth the loss of the roof, the R8 Spyder has a stiffer bodyshell, yet only weighs fractionally more, meaning it should handle just as keenly as the R8 coupe. Thanks to the 525bhp V10 FSI engine the open top R8 can accelerate from 0-62mph in just 4.1 seconds – only 0.2 seconds slower than the coupe version. It’s not cheap though with prices starting at £111,955.

Aston Martin Rapide

It may be famous for traditional sports cars, but Aston Martin has broken with tradition by launching a four-door model. Like the new Porsche Panamera, it’s designed to be a large luxury sports car, rather than a traditional saloon, but still offers useful practicality. It’s strictly for four passengers and those in the back are particularly well catered for. There are two hand-trimmed individual sports seats plus a personal face-level heating and air conditioning system. An optional rear entertainment system is available which includes two LCD screens fitted in the back of the front seat heardrests. This comes with a six DVD changer and a Bang & Olufsen sound system. It’s practical too, with one-touch automatically folding rear seats and a maximum boot space of 750 litres. Peformance is a key Aston tradition and the Rapide is no exception. Power comes from a hand-built 6.0-litre V12 engine producing 470bhp which gives it a 0-62mph time of just 5.3 seconds.

Kodak’s new ink replacement offerings include a new Kodak Black Ink Cartridge 10XL and improved Kodak Color Ink Cartridge 10C to enable consumers to print more with added convenience and less trips to the store for replacement ink cartridges.

The Kodak ESP Office 6150 All-in-One printer will be available on the marked in April 2010 and cost about $230.

HTC Bravo smartphone due April 2010

With all the speculation and confusion surrounding HTC’s new line of smartphones, it’s difficult to tell which rumors are true. The most credible source on the Bravo so far is a leaked HTC brochure (below). Based on the specs outlined in the brochure, the Bravo will be a spectacular smartphone.

This sleek handset measures 4.41″ by 2.2″ by 0.46″ thick. It sports a large 3.7 inch AM-OLED touchscreen.

The Bravo features HTC’s Sense user interface. It has a virtual QWERTY keyboard (no physical keyboard) and includes an optical joystick below the screen.

The processor is the fast Qualcomm QSD8250 1GHz Snapdragon. Internal memory consists of a 512MB flash ROM and 256MB RAM, plus a removable 16 GB microSD card.

The camera is a 5 megapixel auto-focus unit with LED flash and 720p HD video capture/playback. It also has DivX and Dolby support.

Other features include an FM radio, 3.5 mm audio jack, compass, accelerometer, GPS, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.1 EDR, microUSB data/charger jack, and a 1400 mAh battery.

Maximum download and upload speeds are 7.2 and 2.0 Mbps, respectively. The Bravo supports dual-band (900/2100 MHz) 3G WCDMA/HSPA networks and quad-band (850/900/1800/1900 MHz) 2G networks GSM/GPRS/EDGE networks. Although the Bravo is apparently slated for T-Mobile, it does not support the 3G network uplink/downlink bands (AWS 1700/2100 MHz) used by T-Mobile USA.

The Bravo is scheduled for release sometime in April 2010. Since it only supports WCDMA 900/2100 3G used primarily in Europe, Asia, Australia, New Zealand, it will probably released in these regions rather than the US

Jaguar XJ (early 2010)

Jaguar’s re-invention continues with the all-new (and coupe-like) XJ that goes on sale next year. The traditional looks – a hallmark of large Jaguars since the 1960s – have been replaced with slick and sophisticated styling that looks more to the future than the past. Interiors have always been a Jaguar strong point and the new XJ continues this with an elegant cabin that matches old-fashioned craftsmanship with the latest in-car gadgets.On the engine front there’s a 3.0-litre V6 diesel with 275bhp (0-60mph in 6.0 seconds); A 5.0-litre normally-aspirated V8 with 385bhp (0-60mph in 5.7 seconds) and a supercharged version with 510bhp (0-60mph in 4.9 seconds. One tradition has been carried over from the previous XJ – and that’s the aluminium chassis construction. It makes the car much lighter than it would have been if it were made from steel and in turn helps lower emissions and increase fuel economy.
